Gloriously Gluten-Free is my personal site. I’m Paul: I’ve been gluten-free for 15 years, and these are the recipes and ideas that work in my kitchen. I share them as a home cook, not a professional, so please read this before you cook from them.
What gluten-free means here
- Gluten-free when made with gluten-free ingredients. I can’t see the ingredients in your kitchen, so that part is up to you.
- Read every label, every time. Brands change their recipes without warning, even ones you’ve bought for years. Look for wheat, barley and rye, oats that aren’t labelled gluten-free, and “may contain” warnings.
- My notes aren’t a complete list. Where an ingredient often hides gluten, I add a note on what to look for. An ingredient without a note still needs checking.
- My kitchen is shared. I cook alongside family who don’t all eat gluten-free. I keep things separate as best I can, but it isn’t a gluten-free kitchen, and nothing here has been lab-tested.
- Think about your own kitchen too. Toasters, chopping boards, colanders, shared butter and jam, and flour in the air can all pass gluten on. Coeliac UK’s guide to cooking at home is a good place to start.
Not medical advice
Everything here is meant to inform and inspire. It isn’t a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Talk to your GP or a dietitian before making big changes to your diet, especially if you have coeliac disease or another medical condition.
Shopping and eating out
When I mention a product, shop or restaurant, it’s what I found at the time. Ranges, recipes and kitchens change, so check for yourself. Before eating out, look at the menu online, read reviews from other gluten-free diners, and call ahead. Don’t be shy about asking how your food is prepared. If you’re highly sensitive, look for certified gluten-free products or contact the manufacturer.
Everyone’s different
What works for me might not suit you. I do my best to get things right, but I can’t guarantee that every recipe, tip or product mentioned here will be suitable for you. If in doubt, leave it out.
